Inconel 625 from Seat to Spring: Custom High-Pressure Sampling Stations for a Major Energy Producer in Saudi Arabia

Collecting a representative sample of a hot, high-pressure, corrosive hydrocarbon stream is one of the less glamorous jobs in an oil and gas facility, and one of the least forgiving. The sample has to be safe to take, true to the process and contained without compromise. If one wetted component is the wrong alloy, the whole station becomes the weak point in the line.

Working with our channel partner in the Kingdom, Tech Inc. designed, manufactured, certified and delivered 18 custom sampling stations for a major energy producer in Saudi Arabia. The customer has since placed a repeat order.

The Service Conditions

Each station was specified for:

  • Pressure: up to 3,000 psi

  • Temperature: up to 100 °C

  • Media: corrosive hydrocarbon service

Those conditions set the most important requirement of the project: every wetted part had to be Inconel 625.

No Exceptions on Material

It is not unusual for exotic alloys to be reserved for the main pressure parts, with standard stainless steel used elsewhere. This specification allowed no such compromise. SS316L was ruled out for any wetted part. Tech Inc. built every wetted component in Inconel 625:

  • All tubing, valves and fittings

  • The flush and drain lines

  • Internal valve components, including seats and springs

To source and qualify Inconel 625 internals across a full bill of materials, our supply chain had to work far beyond catalogue parts. It is one of the main reasons the project stands out in our portfolio.

Engineered Around the Customer's Site

The stations were developed through a formal document submission and review process. A 3D model came with the design package. Through review rounds with the customer's engineering team, the design was refined to suit their installation:

  • Cabinet welded to a structural channel, for direct and robust mounting on site

  • Drain connection upsized to 1 inch, for reliable flushing and drainage

  • A right-handed configuration, to match the operator's access on site

  • Inconel 625 throughout the flow path, confirmed in the final revision

The final design received customer approval in October 2025, which cleared it for manufacture.

Certified at Every Step

In hydrocarbon service, the paperwork matters as much as the hardware. Every station shipped with a full quality dossier:

  • Material test certificates and chemical composition

  • Mechanical properties (yield strength and UTS) and hardness

  • Positive Material Identification (PMI)

  • Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT)

  • Intergranular Corrosion (IGC) testing

  • Hydrostatic pressure testing

  • NACE MR0175 compliance for sour service

  • Visual and dimensional inspection reports

Delivered by Air to the Eastern Province

To get the stations to site quickly, Tech Inc. shipped them by air freight. The main consignment of 15 stations, packed in 15 individual wooden crates, departed India at the end of June 2026 and arrived in Dammam three days later. A zero-pressure certificate came with the shipment to confirm safe transport. An earlier batch of three units had already been air-freighted.

A Repeat Order

The clearest sign of a customer's confidence is a second order. In September 2026, the customer placed a repeat order for more sampling stations, now in manufacture at Tech Inc.
