Gas turbines draw very large volumes of air through their inlet filter houses, and dust that passes the filters fouls and erodes the compressor, cutting output and efficiency. Self-cleaning filter houses with conical and cylindrical pairs are standard in hot, dusty regions, and a large F-class turbine holds about 800 pairs. The cartridges serve power stations, cogeneration and combined-cycle plants, gas processing plants and pipeline compressor stations at planned change-outs and outages.
