The Tech Inc. Lock-Hopper and Purge Gas Skid (N2 / CO2) supplies high-pressure nitrogen or CO2 to pressurise and purge the lock hoppers that feed coal into a pressurised gasifier. Every lock-hopper cycle needs gas to raise the hopper from atmospheric to gasifier pressure and then to vent and purge it safely, which means the skid must deliver large, repeated volumes of gas on demand. We design and build the skid around our own gas boosters and pressure vessels.
Main components
- Gas booster units that raise nitrogen or CO2 to lock-hopper pressure
- High-pressure buffer vessels that meet the peak demand of each pressurisation step
- Pressure and flow control valves for pressurisation, venting and purge
- Purge gas headers to the hopper, coal feed lines and instruments
- Filtration, relief valves and vent connections
- PLC sequence control interfaced to the gasifier control system
Applications: lock-hopper pressurisation, coal feed line purge, gasifier and burner purge, instrument purge, and inert blanketing in coal and lignite gasification plants.
