• 1oo2 or 2oo2 final elements – selected to meet the SIL and spurious-trip targets in the safety requirements specification.
• Wellhead and flowline HIPPS – protects lower-rated flowlines from full shut-in pressure.
• Pipeline and plant inlet HIPPS – for gas plant inlets and process units where flare capacity is limited.

• Overpressure protection with less flare load – isolating the source reduces the relief load the flare system must take.
• Reliable initiation – 2-out-of-3 voted transmitters on dedicated tappings tolerate one failed transmitter without a spurious trip or loss of protection.
• Assured closure – the HIPPS HPU or accumulator package provides the energy to close the final elements.
• Testable in service – proof-test and partial-stroke facilities with bypass management.
• Full visibility – diagnostics, sequence of events and status signals to the DCS.
