The Tech Inc. Battery Recycling Hydrometallurgy Pilot Line runs the complete metal-recovery flowsheet for spent lithium-ion batteries at pilot scale. Black mass is leached in acid, filtered, purified and separated by solvent extraction, and the metals are recovered as lithium, nickel and cobalt salts. R&D laboratories and process developers use it to prove a flowsheet on their own feed and to collect scale-up data for a commercial plant.
Modules
- Black mass feed and agitated leach reactor with acid and reductant dosing
- Solid–liquid filtration for leach residue, with cake washing
- Impurity removal by pH-controlled precipitation
- Mixer-settler solvent extraction bank for metal separation
- Crystallisation or precipitation of the final metal salts
- Reagent tanks, transfer pumps and off-gas extraction
- PLC and SCADA with trending and batch data logging
Applications: battery recycling R&D, flowsheet development and validation, testing of black mass from different cell chemistries, sample salt production, and university and institute research.
